We welcome your child aboard the American Pride for a truly unique and exciting camp experience. The American Pride is a historic, three-masted schooner that relives the "Golden Age of Sail" with each voyage. Each year thousands of school children come aboard to participate in learning adventures that can not be replicated in the classroom. Our educational curriculum includes living history, sail training and scientific programs. Our campers have the opportunity to experience the best of the programs
during the 5 days spent aboard the American
Pride. As members of ASTA (American Sail Training Assn.) we have
a crew eager and able to teach all aspects of sailing while we are underway. The
ship is fully insured and U.S. Coast Guard Certified for up to 100 passengers.
All modern safety equipment is carried aboard and the crew are trained in CPR
and first aid. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: All programs have a Marine Biologist, Anthropologist, Historian and amateur Astronomer aboard. The campers sleep aboard in Pullman-type bunks with privacy curtains. Meals are served buffet-style, with delicious and ample food prepared from fresh ingredients. Snacks are provided throughout the day.
Camps are age appropriate for 10-18 year olds and they will be grouped in crews accordingly. You will be provided with a necessary gear list upon reservation. Camp dates are listed below and others will be added as necessary. Campers will arrive at the American Pride, Rainbow Harbor, Long Beach, CA., at 8AM on Monday and will depart the ship at 5PM on Friday.
